- Perceived as negative contributor
- Open Source vs Commercial Projects
- Very little work on open source, but passion & culture is outside
- Knowledge sharing…
- Trying to make teams open source, doing it wrong and upsetting the community
- Either owned business or worked in small orgs that did Open Source, observation is that corporates do much better than credited
- Adopt Open Source principles, collaboration, transparency, all submit patches, internal to the company.
- Had to learn to be vulnerable, not giving away control but better feedback
- Recruiting from outside team with contributors
- Companies contributing and the reputation damage if it doesn't work
- Potential governance overpowering toward one entity
- Foundations with pay-to-play may not work well for the community
- Corporate objectives might be against the community, therefore vendors untrusted?
- Single vendor dominated does not seem to work
- When money buys control/equity in a foundation it's kind of like a corporation in disguise as opposed to offering grants and not getting power or access in return.
