Accommodation

Stay with us! We're pleased to offer two preferred accommodation options to linux.conf.au 2017 attendees.

Budget – University of Tasmania Colleges & Apartments

$420 for 6 nights, includes breakfast and transport. Book through linux.conf.au.

20 College Road, Sandy Bay, Tasmania 7005 (2km from Wrest Point with substantial elevation change)

For FAQs for people staying at the university accommodation, see our FAQ page.

The incredibly popular student-style accommodation returns! Nestled on a hilltop with amazing views of Hobart, the University of Tasmania accommodation centre features dormitory blocks, as well as modern apartment blocks.

The dormitories are older buildings, with blocks of single bedrooms, and shared bathrooms in close proximity to the bedrooms. The bedrooms all have king single beds, and have access to communal kitchenette facilities.

Each apartment block has 6 bedrooms (each with a king single bed) and 2 bathrooms, as well as a central common and kitchen area, and 2 study areas.

Linen and basic toiletries are provided for both the dormitory blocks and the apartments.

The linux.conf.au rate includes full cooked breakfast on each day of the conference, and a continuously-operating bus service between the Convention Centre at Wrest Point and up the hill to the University accommodation on each of the conference days.

Rooms are available for $70 per night for a 6-night stay ($420 total).

Rooms may only be booked for the 6-night period from Sunday 15 January until Saturday 21 January. If you wish to stay for fewer nights, you must still book and pay for the full six nights.

Rooms at the University may be booked through the linux.conf.au ticket sales system, either when you purchase your ticket, or in a separate transaction after you have purchased your ticket. Payment is required at the time of booking.
