• Perceived as negative contributor
  • Open Source vs Commercial Projects
  • Very little work on open source, but passion & culture is outside
  • Knowledge sharing…
  • Trying to make teams open source, doing it wrong and upsetting the community
  • Either owned business or worked in small orgs that did Open Source, observation is that corporates do much better than credited
  • Adopt Open Source principles, collaboration, transparency, all submit patches, internal to the company.
    • Had to learn to be vulnerable, not giving away control but better feedback
  • Recruiting from outside team with contributors
  • Companies contributing and the reputation damage if it doesn't work
  • Potential governance overpowering toward one entity
  • Foundations with pay-to-play may not work well for the community
  • Corporate objectives might be against the community, therefore vendors untrusted?
  • Single vendor dominated does not seem to work
  • When money buys control/equity in a foundation it's kind of like a corporation in disguise as opposed to offering grants and not getting power or access in return.
